Welcome to Our Website!

Our Lurgan congregation started with services in Clare Hall in February 1967.
There had been some interest in the Free Presbyterian witness among Lurgan folk for
some time
prior to its beginning.
As early as the summer of 1961 Fred Baird, who later became a foundation member
and an elder in Lurgan, spoke of the potential for Free Presbyterian work in his area
He pointed out that any time Ian Paisley preached in County Armagh there was a very
strong representation from Lurgan.
From the very beginning of the work Lurgan had quite a number of people attending the church. The opportunity then arose for the congregation to purchase an old school building in Georges's Street and after extensive renovations were carried out it was opened for the preaching of the Word in 1968.
For a while Rev Patrick served the congregation in Lurgan as a student - then in June 1971 we issued a call to the Rev John Wylie. In 1978 Rev John Wylie was forced to retire due to ill health.
Following that Rev David Creane received a call to the work where he still continues today. During his time the congregation moved to our new building on the Banbridge Rd in 1984.
